Unlike other nationalities, the Zimbabwean community in Germany is farely young with but one or two generations. This summer, The Girl from Bulawayo decided to film the Shisanyama, a grill party which brought together one big Zimbabwean family in Düsseldorf Germany.

Having come to Germany as an au pair from Zimbabwe six years ago, Claudine Ndlovu shot and directed this documentary about her path and that of two of her friends who also came as Au Pairs. She is a master student , Audrey a research associate in stem cell research and Millicent is training to be a geriatric nurse. Hence the film gives a glimpse into the whole process of coming to Europe from Africa and the reality of the day to day life as an immigrant in Germany.
